I am almost compelled to feel that i share a cosmic connection with mirza ghalib( the great persian, urdu poet) , somehow i happen to understand and feel the pain in the words and am reading in between lines of his shayari!!!!
"Ragon mein daudte firte ke hum nahi kayal
Jab aankh hi se na tapaka to fir lahoo kya hai"
How amazing and powerful words can get once the medium is correct. Although Mirza was not ragarded with great honour during his life time, he had claimed that the forthcoming generations would remember him as one of the greatest. And for all of us, the ghazal freaks, mirza is and will continue to be the greatest of all times.

The greatness of mirza, as i understand it, was not only in bringing this art from a few elite and erudite to common man by addressing issues like when or whether fearing God(Allah) is enough to get rid of all sins but also the idea and concept generation, wits of man to create an impact on the listener.
Although very polite and a courtesean, his work was not to please the court and the king of those times but was close to poor people struggling for make their ends meet. And that is what makes him immortal, like poverty, the pain and the misery on this earth will never cease to exist. I do believe in theory of reincarnation and may be i am one from those ages, since i feel the words hit the floor of my heart direct.May be i am getting too emotional now, so let me end this with this note:
" jalaa hai jism jahaan dil bhee jal gaya hoga
kuredate ho jo ab raakh, justjoo kya hai ?"
